Squirrel play

I watched these two squirrels having fun the other day ripping the coco fiber off this old hanging planter.

We have dozens of grey squirrels hanging around the yard, and they're usually up to some minor devilment.  In this case, I gave them the benefit of the doubt because they might have been collecting material for a spring nest (called a drey.)

They each got a big Costco cashew.  We are friends for life.

Seattle had two glorious, sunny, dry days (in a row!) that really lifted our spirits.  Oh my, the garden is beautiful from all the rain.  The roses and peonies just need a touch of real warmth to pop open. It won't happen this week. It's 15 degrees cooler today and rain is back in the forecast right through Mother's Day, which will be chilly and wet.

And we're now approaching the record for wettest first 5 months of the year, which is currently 26.90" set in 1972.  If we get normal May rainfall the rest of the month, we'll break the record.
