The moon was an ominous dark orange last night and this morning another weird, smoky sunrise. It looks like fog, but of course this is very unusual and unhealthy. I'm blaming it for the headache I woke up with. I worked outside for a while yesterday which was probably a mistake. Maybe I'll go breathe clean indoor mall air today. Retail therapy.
The smoke is actually thick enough to reduce the amount of solar radiation, so it took the edge off the predicted heat wave. They're saying a high of only 90 today, which is still a record.
August 3rd is National Watermelon Day. Watermelons are 90% water and the other 10% delicious. We can buy mediocre watermelons any old day of the year now, but it was once just a scrumptious seasonal treat.
