PaintCan

Here's something fun for my friends who use an iPad or iPhone. Adobe Labs has a free app called PaintCan that lets you "paint" over photos just by swiping and dabbing your finger on the screen.

It's incredibly quick and easy (not to mention additive.) Adobe says the app is targeted to "creatively inclined non-artists." It gives you a selection of smart brushes to create different painting effects as the underlying photo emerges.

It's especially pretty with scenery and flowers...and a lot more fun than any game I've ever tried to play on my phone.

With just a few minutes of meditative dabbing, you can create an original "painting."
Faces are a little more challenging...

Although here you can see I've transformed a snapshot at the pizza parlor into a Renaissance masterpiece.  Well, sort of!
