The crystal ball

It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.
- Charles Dickens

Yesterday we woke up to a dusting of snow that was gone by noon. It's below freezing this morning in Seattle, but we've been promised 60 degrees tomorrow. March is the month of hope with daffodils blooming and the first day of spring coming up on the 20th. But March has a dark side, and not just the unpredictable weather. Daylight savings time starts this weekend. If your alarm clock is set for 4:40 am, then you know what I'm talking about. A couple of unhappy weeks are coming up in this house.
