Yesterday morning the local news promised us nice weather: sun, blue sky, and finally 50+ degrees. So I went out to do a few garden chores and came back in with my eyes streaming from the cold wind. The sky was cloudy and stormy until late afternoon. I talked to our friends in Montana and they were enjoying a lovely spring day out in Missoula. Amanda and Tom also had a fine day going over in the Methow Valley, so the good weather must have headed East.
We went to the Seattle Symphony Beyond the Score program in the afternoon. This is the series with a film and live actor presentations on the stage along with the musicians. It's entertaining, and after intermission the Symphony plays the entire piece through without interruption. So there's something for everyone.
Yesterday the program featured Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 27, written the year he died. Mozart lived 35 years and in that short time wrote about 600 compositions, including 32 symphonies and 20 operas. He was brilliant and fun-loving, silly and profound. He could speak 5 languages, write long letters, dance, play billiards, enjoy picnics and Carnival shenanigans. He performed countless times and was proficient on several instruments. He was a reader of serious philosophy, an avid Mason and father of 6 children. And so on. His genius is a great wonder and mystery of the world.
I pay no attention whatever to any body's praise or blame. I simply follow my own feelings.
