Deck the halls

The folks down the street go all out. There's even a Santa, peeking from an outhouse. Ha! I have to smile walking by, although it's a sad sight on a rainy day when they're deflated into wet puddles on the ground.

The simple pleasures. I bought John the Bon Maman French fruit spread nativity calendar again. It's one of the highlights of his day, right behind wine time. Being John, he keeps a running list of the flavors to see if they slip in any duplicates. Quality control.

On weekdays we eat a light breakfast (shredded wheat him, cottage cheese me) so around 9:30 start  looking for a snack and cup of tea to get us through to lunch.

This buttery, rich bread is absolutely delicious toasted with fruit spread. I'm much too cheap to pay $8 for that little loaf, so I rummage around the day old display at QFC (Krogers) and sometimes score it for 2 bucks. The baker who came up with the idea of croissant bread should get a nice promotion.
