The new normal

Breakfast in bed on a Monday morning?  Well, this new retirement schedule might put a crimp in my early morning blogging habit. No worries folks, I'm not going anywhere.

Yesterday afternoon we went to a free piano recital at the University of Washington Music School.  The blissfully quiet auditorium had only a smattering of audience as young YiYi Chen played an impressive program of Beethoven, Scarlatti and Schumann. This was a part of her degree requirements for a Doctor of Music. With a little research (thanks, John) it's just amazing what you can do for free.

What a nice distraction it was, turning off our devices and taking a break from the frenetic local news. As everyone knows by now, we have the dubious distinction of being the virus epicenter in the U.S. And it sure beat waiting in line at dirty Costco to buy pasta and toilet paper (we're fine on both.)

The new professor of music? I think he's already turning into an egghead.
