Another place, another time

Andalusian Court Villas

You can take your pick of accommodations in Palm Springs, from Motel 6 on the highway to gated luxury resorts to everything in between.  The "Historic Tennis Club" neighborhood is our favorite, because you can walk to many restaurants and shops.

There are several small inns tucked away on these residential streets, just a few blocks from downtown.  In the past we've stayed at the Coyote Inn and the Old Ranch Inn. Both have tons of old California character, with a few rooms centered around a central courtyard and pool.  Needless to say, these are popular with returning guests, and you have to reserve far in advance during the high season.

About a year ago I made reservations the Andalusian Court, a new place for us. It's a courtyard hotel with only 7 villas (apartments.)  Secluded and rustic but chic, adults only, with a beautiful old garden full of water features.  While most of these small inns were private homes, this was always a hotel of sorts.  In fact, once upon a time, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez brought their young children here on vacation.  How about that?

We think it might be about the nicest place we've ever stayed. Here's a few pictures of the room and grounds, including our private outdoor bathtub.

Oh yes, John hanging out last night with his downtown buddy Sonny Bono.

Today we're taking a tour of the wind farm.  Life is good.
