It was a (mostly) beautiful drive over to eastern Washington via the North Cascades Highway. I packed a picnic lunch and we stopped at New Halem, and then several other view points along the way. Unfortunately, the smoke from the Cutthroat Lake fire was so intense on Washington Pass that the mountains were entirely obscured, so Rachel missed some of the best views.
Oh, well. We have a beautiful room overlooking the Twisp River, and went out for Mexican food last night with the family. Very smokey down here in the valley, too. More adventures today...
