O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know.
From, October
by Robert Frost
I don't think the autumn curtain has ever slammed down so hard and fast as it did this week. Three days of record rain, wind and cold temperatures in western Washington. The first snow fell on Stevens Pass at 4,000 feet. Dolly and I felt sorry for the cooped up horses and turned them out for a bit yesterday, then had to bring them back to the barn in a torrential rain shower. My little fleece jacket was just not cutting it-- time to dig out the real winter clothes and get ready for a rough winter in the foothills.
