The seventh full moon of 2012 will rise tonight. According to the Farmer's Almanac, it is known as the Full Buck Moon because this is the time of year when fuzzy antlers push from the heads of young deer. Other names for July's full moon include the Full Thunder Moon, Sturgeon Moon, Hay Moon and Mead Moon. There's only one moon around Earth, but it goes by a crowd of names with a story behind each one.
Say, its only a paper moon
Sailing over a cardboard sea
But it wouldn't be make-believe
If you believed in me...
Sailing over a cardboard sea
But it wouldn't be make-believe
If you believed in me...
Something to think about: the full moon each month is actually an instantaneous event when the Earth-facing side of the moon is completely lit up by sunlight. Here's to the moon!
