Happy Birthday, Amanda

Amanda
Germany, March 1978

One summer afternoon, a beautiful baby girl was born in Ipswich, England. They say babies don't see well at birth, but this is not true. When her mother held her for the first time, the little girl looked deep into her eyes. For one brief moment, fresh from God, she knew her baby had brought along answers to all the mysteries of the universe. If only she could speak...
And with this miracle, she fell in love with her daughter.

Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting:
The Soul that rises with us, our life's Star,

Hath elsewhere its setting,

And cometh from afar:
Not in entire forgetfulness,

And not in utter nakedness,

But trailing clouds of glory do we come,

From God, who is our home...
