What a gift

It's a myth that it's "always raining" in Seattle. In fact, Miami, Houston, NYC, Boston and Philadelphia all get more annual rainfall.  Summers are dry here, especially July and August.  The grass is already turning brown, and just keeping the flower beds watered is a huge chore.

So getting such a soft, soaking (free!) rain yesterday was a real gift. It started coming down right after I finished dragging the sprinkler around watering everything-- go figure.

The forecast is lovely for the next week, and after this moisture the garden will be at it's peak when the lilies and crocosima bloom.  No particular plans here for the 4th of July. Another one of those crazy-on-the roads holidays, when staying home seems like an attractive option. John is taking Friday off, which gives him a nice 4 day weekend.
