The weekend flew by, sunny but cold and windy.  It seems like 4:30 came earlier than usual this morning. Just wait till next Monday, the worst day of the year for working folks, the start of daylight savings time.

People say they like the extra light in the evening. Of course, changing the clocks does not create more daylight, it just shifts the time the sun rises and sets.  An hour seems like a small change, but it plays havoc to our body clock, or circadian rhythm, sometimes with serious consequences. Legislation is always on the table to end it-- but we persist.  Oh, well, plenty of time to complain about that next week.

We enjoyed the concert yesterday with Sir András Schiff both conducting and playing the piano, always a treat to watch. He's a Hungarian-born British pianist and conductor.  We've never seen him perform live, but over the years John collected many of his recordings on CD.  He played Beethoven and Bach concertos, then conducted a Bartok symphony.  Dad, I thought of you.

In the classical world, Schiff is also a famous lecturer and old school type of teacher.  John found this amusing little video of him instructing an unfortunate young pianist in a master class.
