March

Sowing the fields

And the seasons, they go round and round...March comes in like a cold lamb. Spring is surely just around the corner now. We're starting a beautiful stretch of sunny weather.

I enjoyed the home show yesterday, mostly because I was with Terri and George. It wouldn't be much fun alone, facing thousands of eager salesman selling every conceivable thing, from $20,000 hot tubs to backyard ADU's (accessory dwelling units.)  Tiny houses are legal and actually encouraged in Seattle, as a solution to our affordable housing crisis.

Some are charming as children's playhouses on the outside. On the inside, I'm sorry, they remind me of large chicken coops.  In fact, our old coop on the farm in Pennsylvania was bigger. Most have a claustrophobic sleeping loft accessible by skinny, steep ladder.  Some people put them up as mother-in-laws in the backyard. It might work if Mother was small and agile and owned two pair of pants and a frying pan.

In other news, our governor, Jay Inslee, joined the Democratic pack running for president. Ho-hum, goes the rest of the country. To put it politely, he lacks "name recognition." Inslee is a nice man with good intentions, albeit somewhat clueless, running almost exclusively on a green environmental platform.  Of interest to hardly anyone off the west coast. Oh-so Washington State.

Busy weekend coming up.  Drawing class tomorrow and the Symphony on Sunday, our first journey downtown without the good old Viaduct.

See you Monday.
