Lush life

It wasn't warm by any stretch of the imagination on Sunday, but at least it didn't rain.  John bought gas for the mower and tackled the first mow of the season, which is never fun and even less so when the grass is high and wet. But he knows the nagging starts in earnest if it isn't done by Easter. Clean house, mowed lawn-- two of my little spring idiosyncrasies.

Unfortunately, the Easter bunny won't stop by the garden this year.  Amanda and family fly in from California this morning and drive right home later today, so they won't be back next weekend.

I planted this clematis last spring as a tiny, fragile stick. Just look how that $20 plant has already rewarded us.  I can see it from the kitchen window and deck which is nice, because the shabby old garage wall is nothing to look at.  This is called a "cosmetic distraction."  Every woman my age knows about that.

It is almost painfully green from months and months of rain.  The big flower bed is full of hundreds of tulips, just begging for a 60 degree day.  It won't happen this week.

Tonight we have a full Pink Moon, a sign that spring is in full swing and summer just around the corner.  It is called the Pink Moon because of the ground Phlox blooming in many parts of the country.

Look for bright Jupiter tonight, shining above and to the right of the full moon.
