Sweet cider days

Here's a few photos from our weekend. Saturday morning starts with a walk to the Twisp farmer's market...
Some darn good chicken tamales to hold off the hunger pains until lunch...
In the afternoon, off the a cider pressing party at the home of Amanda and Tom's friends, Peter and Mary. A pickup load of freshly picked apples waiting to be pressed.
Nova and Adelina wallowing in apples...
The classic press still does the job...
But the first step is tossing the whole apples into the grinder box and chopping buckets of small pieces for the press...
In between, visiting to the backyard chicken coop...
Everyone got into the action!
After the the final strain, the delicious unfiltered juice is ready for drinking or fermentation into something even more yummy.

And all too soon, time for nana and grandpa to head back to the big city.
