John and Maya
Downtown Twisp
We took Mr. Avalon out for a first long spin, and had a nice drive over the mountains yesterday. The verdict? Very comfortable. (The memory foam seat pads from the Honda were not required :-) It was foggy and damp in Seattle, but as soon as we got some elevation, the mountains were beautiful with clear blue skies and colorful fall foliage. Plenty of traffic on the highway, as this is the first weekend of hunting season in eastern Washington.
We drove up the Methow Valley from Pateros through miles of scorched landscape. A sad sight, but it was incredible how many homes and ranches the firefighters saved along the highway. Places were still standing, with blackened landscape right up to the front door.
Amanda was working when we arrived in Twisp, so we had some quality time with little Maya in the afternoon. Nova goes to all-day kindergarten. Both of our darling girls are getting so big! Today we'll be hanging out just relaxing, with a little birthday party for Maya tonight. More pictures soon. Have a good weekend.
