July
A new summer month. The Book of Hours calendar page shows sheep shearing and harvesting near the massive Château du Clain in Poitiers, France. You can lose yourself in the details. And why is the "peasant" wearing a rich, blue robe for such hot, dirty work?
Here's an old English proverb:
If the first of July be rainy weather,
it will rain, more or less,
for four weeks together.
If that's true, things are finally looking up. It's a beautiful morning and the TV weather forecasters are giddy with excitment. We're starting a warm, sunny stretch with a weather rarity in Seattle-- a dry 4th of July weekend!
