December 6th is St. Nicholas Day, in honor of the very real saint who inspired the tradition of Santa Claus. Nicholas was a 4th century Greek bishop who dedicated his life to helping the poor and needy with secret gift-giving. He is the patron saint of children, sailors and unmarried women.
Another frosty clear morning in Seattle. I just checked the thermometer, and it's only 27 degrees at this early hour. Cold enough for snow, but too dry. Our typical storms are hitting far south in California this week.
Maybe a pork roast with lots of garlic and onions for the Feast of St. Nicholas?
