What was that strange glow outside the bedroom window yesterday? Well, the sun actually came out for a while in a clear blue sky.
Soon we will notice longer days in the Northwest, and as we come blinking out of the dark time, notice other things too. For example, the little moss garden growing on the north side of my car.
But this is still solid comfort food season. We made a big batch of meatballs yesterday with a combination of ground beef and Italian sausage mixed with seasoned bread crumbs and two of Amanda's fine eggs. John precisely minced the onion, peppers and garlic. No slimy chunks allowed in my meatballs.
John would probably prefer some other pasta shape, but I'm partial to the classic spaghetti and meatballs dish non-Italians grew up with. Then an hour (or so) of evening television.
We tried the Netflix "Polo" series, produced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. I should have guessed-- rich, egotistical men galloping underfed horses to the point of exhaustion while yanking their heads around (hence the "string" of ponies required for each game.) They seemed to care as much about their animals as a bag of golf clubs. Maybe less. One episode was enough.
We switched over to a British spy television series called "Black Doves." It's been described as a combination of "The Crown" and "Madmen." Interesting characters and a London setting. So far very entertaining.
