Our regular Symphony tickets are in the 4th row and we like sitting close to the stage, especially when there's a soloist. But on Friday, John scored center first row first balcony seats. What a treat, and I felt like the queen sitting up there, taking in the entire beautiful Benaroya Hall. Isn't it lovely?
There were groups of schoolchildren at the noon performance, always nice to see. They clapped enthusiastically and it sounded like no kid wanted to be the last one to stop. Very cute.
The weather settled into typical damp and gloomy, making a person (mostly) happy to stay home. We started a new puzzle and I dinked around with a beginner's embroidery project. My fingers, not so nimble anymore, forgot the various stitches, but there's always a nice YouTube lady to demonstrate just about anything. Remember when we had to learn everything from books and magazines?
Oh yes, we watched the new movie called "Tar." An intense, complicated story and I won't go into it here, but an excellent performance by Cate Blanchett and must see if you're interested in classical music, especially Mahler.
There wasn't much else to do but cook. We had braised chuck steak on Saturday with the bits of leftovers transformed into hearty beef barley soup. For Sunday dinner, old-fashioned chicken and noodles.
I came back from Safeway complaining to John about the $5 box of Italian egg noodles, but boy, they were silky and delicious after that cheap whole wheat pasta we eat. Not fancy food, but everything hit the spot.
