Between Twisp and Portland, we've been away for almost a week. That's a long time in the spring. The garden is going crazy, the tulips are finished and the bluebells starting their heyday in the beds.
See that large clump right at the base of a nice lily? Impossible to dig it out without destroying both.
Not so fast. Lo and behold, a teeny tiny pink bud has just appeared. Everyone loves jasmine when it blooms for about 3 weeks-- the rest of the time a pain because it flops over the deck and has to be constantly pruned. I wouldn't have been that heartbroken to lose it, but the thing has other ideas.
What else is new? Last week I ordered a pair of matching chairs from Amazon before they doubled in price. They were made in China, of course, "our chief-ripper-offer-of-trade," where almost all America's mass market furniture is manufactured.
That's about all the news. I had an early appointment this morning and stopped at Home Depot on the way home for two tomato starts (cherry and Roma) which will be the extent of our vegetable pot growing.
A nice ordinary weekend shaping up here with a symphony on Sunday afternoon.
See you Monday.
