Today is "Marooned Without a Compass Day." Really.
From the wacky holiday calendar website:
Which direction will you take today? How is your sense of direction? Do you often find yourself going around in circles? Do you feel hopelessly lost? Do you know where you are? If any of these questions describe your current state of being, then you are in tune to this special day.
What an appropriate "holiday" at the end of this crazy-beyond-belief week.
The weather turned yucky in Seattle, so we're staying busy as possible with indoor pastimes. I started an afghan from an crochet booklet Mom gave me many years ago. I don't have it anymore, but she once made us that red one with the ruffly edge.
The booklet still has a note taped on in her dear, familiar handwriting. Mom liked to write little notes on everything.
And some cute advice on the directions: "Very easy, looks fancy."
Well, I guess, once you've pulled it out several times to get back on the right track. Accidentally drop or add a stitch, and the "fancy" pattern doesn't line up. Of course you don't notice until you're several rows down the line.
Anyway, there is something soothing about the silent mental counting and monotony of crochet. And how could I ever forget this strange time when I made it?
Have a good weekend, dear friends and family.
