The dark days before Christmas

The weather was so dismal and wet today I never left the house once, which is pretty unusual for me.  Now it's 3 pm on Sunday afternoon, and already nearly dark. Surely it must be almost "wine time" around here! 

But I put the long day to good use. Our tree (Fraser Pine from the West Seattle Nursery) is up, so pretty it looks almost fake. The boxes are unpacked and the house decorated once again with old treasures. It feels very sweet and festive being hunkered down inside tonight.

We had planned to go downtown Seattle today for our annual holiday lunch treat, but with the nasty weather, decided to postpone until a duller (and less busy) month. I hope you had a nice weekend.
