Downshift
What an enjoyable and action-packed several weeks, but now a welcome shift down to normal routine before we gear up again for our big September trip. (More on that later.)
I've never seen it so dry here. But I might have said that last summer, too. We keep hearing about the "new normal" in the West. They said on the news last night that we've had only an inch of rain in Seattle since May! Is that possible? Four plus inches is more typical for summer. But then nothing seems typical anymore.
The garden is parched. I am beyond tired of watering, but the flowers (poor things) are winding down anyway. On the bright side, we have many pounds of Roma tomatoes and plenty of hot peppers (freezer salsa?) Plus more plums than I originally thought. Yesterday Rachel and propped up a branch, so heavy with fruit it was almost touching the ground.
Today is "Sneak Some Zucchini On Your Neighbor's Porch Day."
