We woke up to bright blue skies this morning, after an end-of-the-world thunderstorm yesterday afternoon. My dad and I took a tour of the open pit mining operation- this monstrous hole is just a mile or so (as the bird flies) from their house in Cripple Creek. It was a surreal experience seeing entire mountains ground up into 1/2 pieces. I'll write more about it when I get home and load my pictures. Tomorrow is a travel day back to Seattle, wish me luck.
