Last Sunday afternoon, we went to the Methow Valley Rodeo with Amanda, Tom and Nova. It turned out to be the nicest weather of the weekend, so we were happy to be outside. The rodeo had all the usual rough and tumble events, although some of the inexperienced broncs and bulls weren't quite sure what their part was in the whole thing.
The rodeo organizers "ran out" of big bulls for the junior bull-riding competition, so a rancher brought in a few range cows for the boys to practice on. You get the picture. There were lots of events for kids, like "mutton busting" and calf riding. There was even an "Over 50 Cowgirl's Footrace" (which yours truly did not participate in!)
My favorite event is barrel racing, and Nova loved watching the girl's drill team. They put on a great show.
The rodeo spectators all sat on a grassy hill above the arena and had a good view. Grandpa John and Nova are checking out the action.
After the rodeo, we stopped at The Pub in Twisp for beer and snacks. Here's a cute one of Nova and Lucas, her handsome little cowboy friend. Nova is not impressed, yet.
