It was a quick weekend trip to the Methow Valley but we sure packed in the activities. On Saturday morning, a spin through the Twisp market with friends, then in the afternoon, a long hike with Amanda, Tom and the kids at Golden Doe Wildlife Unit admiring the sunflowers in full bloom (Arrowleaf Balsamroot to be correct.)
The weather was perfect and almost hot in the sun. Spring turns to summer in the blink of an eye, and shorts and t-shirts appeared at the market. Maya (as usual) got me to buy her a bag of kettle corn.
The Methow Valley Theater's production of "Sound of Music" opened on Friday night. This is the big community play produced every two years with all local talent, so everyone looks forward to seeing friends and family on the stage.
Maya has a small part in the children's chorus singing the Yodel-Ay-Hee-Hoo song. You know it as one of many tunes from "The Sound Of Music" that you can't get out of your head. The hills are alive! Climb every mountain! Doe, a deer!
And here is the adorable goatherd in costume, fueling up on tacos before rushing over to the Community Center across the street.
We are back in Seattle again for day of laundry and rest.
I'm so glad you forwarded your blog again because I had lost the bookmark to it a few years back. What a wonderful time you had with family and nature.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joni! It was perfect timing for wildflowers and weather.
